Hi, my name is Dave and I'm an alcoholic. I wasn't always an alcoholic. I'm not even sure when I became an alcoholic. I didn't even have a full understanding of what an alcoholic was until I was in my late twenties. I was always under the impression an alcoholic was a homeless person who slept on park benches covered with newspaper, or a person who had to go to those silly meetings. Sure, I drank a lot, but I just liked to have a good time. Doesn't everybody?
I grew up in Southern California where I lived life in the fast lane in my teens through my late twenties. I have admittedly been to the bottom of society's scale and have worked really hard to become a respectable member of society with a sense of inner peace. Today, I live happily in Southern California with my wife Kristin, daughter Ashlynn, and son Nathan.
By far, alcohol use/abuse has solely had the largest negative impact on my life. My goal is to spread some insight on alcohol use to anyone who is willing to listen, particularly teens.
